Squirts Kindy Football
This season Capalaba Football Club are running the Football Squirts program. This is the only recognised and endorsed program for children under the age of five and therefore participants and clubs will be covered by the state insurance program. To register for this program complete the form below.
What is the Squirts program?
The Football Squirts program has been created to develop the football skills of 3 to 5 year olds. The program will enhance the opportunities for young children to receive quality, consistent coaching. The hope is that in acquiring basic skills, participating children will not only learn correct technique but will also develop a love of the “world game”.
The Football Squirts program promotes football-based exercise and activity for younger children who are not able to be registered to play. It can be used as a stand-alone program at specific times during the week or as a way of involving younger family members on weekends while their older brothers and sisters play scheduled matches.
The program is not a “technical coaching” program, but a tempered introduction to the great sport of football. The very basics of the game are introduced and experienced by the participants through different drills, practices and games.

Capalaba Bulldogs
are heading for their best-ever pre-season warm-up.
By Allan Watson
Capalaba Bulldogs are heading for their best-ever pre-season warm-up as
they prepare for the SK Hotels Cup with a tough Beenleigh Cup third-round
match against the home side at Chris Green Park on Saturday at 7pm.
They will need the challenge, as the SK Hotels Cup line-up the following
week includes NSW State League first division grand final winner Spirit
FC, newly promoted Premier League side Brisbane Olympic, and Division
2 bridesmaid Southside Eagles.
Spirit brings with it coach Tony Walmsley, well-known to Bulldogs' fans
as the man who created the base for Capalaba's forward-looking vision.
"Spirit is the representative arm of the Gladesville Hornsby Football
Association, taking in 36 clubs and 13,000 players," Walmsley said.
"After winning last season's grand final, we have acquired four or
five top-quality new players and are looking to winning promotion this
season."
"I'm really keen to see how the new Bulldogs stack up against tough
opposition."
Walmsley's visit will have something of a back-to-home feel, as Capalaba
coach Greg Thomas and a number of returning players first signed on at
Capalaba under Walmsley.
Olympic is undergoing a massive restructure and also has entered a team
in the Queensland State League. It will bring its own familiar face. The
club's new Premier League coach is another Capalaba identity, former coach
and president Dave Large.
Fresh from a crushing 6-1 win over Mudgeeraba in round two of the Beenleigh
Cup on Saturday, the Bulldogs will relish the opportunity of putting its
own front-line players under pressure.
Numerous forced changes to the previous weeks line-up gave Thomas the
chance to test his quality of depth fully, and those who were asked to
step up did so magnificently.
Capalaba started in an attacking mood, and the impressive defence of Joel
Storman, Lincoln Thew, Byron Hassall and Robert Dickinson which shook
Mudgeeraba provided the overwhelming platform.
Jake Sherwood had another outstanding match, and all three of his goals
smacked of quality.
Thomas bedazzled the opposition defences at every touch, and made a welcome
return to the goalscorers list with his own hat-trick.
The highlight of the match for many came in the 60th minute when outstanding
former junior Caedon Newell was introduced. Newell and Sam Roper are the
first Junior Academy players to make it through to the top-team ranks.
Newell's impressive touches made an instant impact, and his talents and
youth were well appreciated by all sections of the healthy crowd.
Everything points to a rewarding year for the Bulldogs, and the return
to the club by a number of highly talented and motivated footballers has
inspired a spirit which will carry us a long way.
Alan Collins's reserve grade showed impressive trial form in their 3-0
win over the Bayside Metro 3 team.
Capalaba junior player sign-ons continue at the clubhouse from 9am till
2pm on Saturday.
Match times for the SK Hotels Cup at John Frederick Park will be advertised
in next week's edition of the Redland Times.
